ARRANGE SONGS FOR A LIVE BAND
PRACTICE WITH THE BAND
PERFORM AT A LIVE CONCERT EVENT

LEARN BASIC LIVE SOUND REINFORCEMENT, the art and science of producing live sound. Topics include sound waves, frequency, decibels and the sonic properties of instruments and voices. Students help set up the PA system and learn about each component, monitors and feedback, equalization and mixing live sound.

ARRANGE A LIVE PERFORMANCE for a recorded song. Discuss options for introductions and endings, stops and starts, tempo and timing. Explore how the different instruments work together and plan when each element should join the performance to create dynamics. 

PRACTICE THE PERFORMANCE of the song. Practice microphone technique, monitor use, stage setup, audience contact, band interaction, and performance quality.

PERFORM AT A CONCERT in front of an audience at a formal concert event. The show will be held at a top music venue in the Cleveland area. Most concerts will be presented at the Bop Stop, part of the Music Settlement. Bop Stop was named 2019 Best Venue by All About Jazz Magazine, winner of the Buzz List Nightlife Spots category and named Scene Magazine's Best Jazz Club.

NOTE: Additional pre-production will be completed by Sprout staff outside of program time to enhance the overall production value of the show. Support musicians and music gear available as needed.

INCLUDES: Includes materials, equipment use, instrument use, instructional fees, backing musicians as needed, and performance space costs. Also includes drinks and snacks during the workshop and a pizza & salad meal on the last day of practice. NOTE: price includes free entrance to the live concert event for participants AND their immediate families!

PERFORMANCE INSTRUCTORS

DANIEL GRIGSON is an audio engineer, producer and musician that has been writing and performing for 25 years. He founded Necco Records, producing dozens of albums from jazz to hard rock, and recording musicians on 3 continents in 6 languages. His music has been played on commercial radio, and can be heard on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify. Daniel specializes in helping young people create original music of their own.

JASON FRALEY is a multi-instrumentalist with years of experience in songwriting, recording and live music. Performing with church music groups since he was young, leading both musically and vocally, and recently serving as a worship team Music Director. Jason has written hundreds of original songs and is an accomplished vocalist performing in choral and acapella groups.
